Professor Mary Beard will be awarded an honorary doctorate by the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya in recognition of her academic career and her standing as one of the leading experts in the field of ancient Roman history. The ceremony is to take place on Wednesday 30 October 2019.
Mary Beard is a Professor at the University of Cambridge, a fellow of Newnham College and a Professor at the Royal Academy of Arts. Her expertise and professionalism are also manifest in her work as a communicator and in her civic commitment to the defence of human rights in general and the rights of women in particular.
